Polling is underway peacefully for the second Phase of Panchayat Elections in Bihar, amidst tight security. Polling, which began at 7 a.m., will continue till 5 p.m. Polling is being held in 692 Gram Panchayats spread over 34 districts including Patna, Rohtash, and Nalanda today. 76,279 candidates are in the fray.Three thousand 402 candidates elected unopposed.

No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the state. For the first time, EVMs are being used in Panchayat polls in the state. Bihar State Election Commission has asked authorities to strictly follow COVID protocols during polling. Counting of votes will take place on 1st and 2nd of October.
