Reports say that Shahla call records showed that she had spoken to the Tarun Vijay foe nearly 45 minutes on the day she was killed. Police said calls records showed that Shehla Masood had spoken to Vijay over phone on the fateful day.

The RTI activist was shot dead inside her car by unidentified gunman in front of her Koh-e-Fiza residence in Bhopal on Aug 16 around 11 am and reports said she had been fearing her life from an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

The state police have suggested a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing. Congress leader Digvijay Singh said Tarun Vijay must cooperate with police and himself demand a CBI probe.

Earlier it was reported that an IPS officer Pawan Shrivastava had been allegedly threatening Shehla Masood after she started probing death of a tigress in Bandhavgarh National Park.

She had filed at least 40 RTI applications involving forest and police officers. In a letter to the Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh, Masood had said: “One and a half years ago I had filed a complaint against IP Officer Pawan Shrivastava for making threatening calls to me….I had provided evidence but till now nothing has been done.”

“Also I would like to bring to your notice that I fear for my life from Mr Pawan Shrivastava. …A criminal minded officer, who has been in news for breaking laws, misbehaving with women and for his corrupt practices, has been harassing me since 2008,” says her letter dated Jan 19, 2010.

Meanwhile the relatives of Shehla have put question mark on the efficacy of MP police saying why police has not yet questioned Tarun Vijay. “Why Bhopal police did not call Tarun to police station to question him even after two week of the incident”? asks Sultan Masood, the father of slain RTI activist Shehla Masood adding that police is calling everybody to police station to probe the case.

Tarun ready to cooperate in probe

Tarun Vijaya in a statement said that he was ready to cooperate in investigation into murder of Shahla Masood.  “We will cooperate in every way with investigators in the probe”, he said told media adding that Shehla was a very “brave activist” and justice would be delivered in the case.

“We will provide all information to the investigating agencies and continue fighting till the culprits are booked and hanged,” he said.

“I spoke to Shehla on August 16 regarding Anna’s movement with which she was associated. It was really shocking and disturbing to hear about her murder; she was a very good friend of mine,” Vijay said.
