PM CM at Bihar flood

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the flood situation in Bihar by conducting an aerial survey of the worst-affected bordering districts of Araria, Purnea, Katihar and Kishanganj today.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi accompanied the Prime Minister during aerial survey.

The Prime Minister is holding a review meeting with the Chief Minister and other officials in Purnea.

Sources said, the state government will submit a detailed memorandum to Prime Minister for a central assistance.

Over one crore seventy lakh people in 21 districts are affected by recent floods. 415 have, so far, lost their lives.

The situation continues to be grim in Muzaffarpur, Samastipur and Darbhanga. Urban areas of Muzaffarpur have been inundated following the breach of Tirhut Canal.

Turbulent water of Burhi Gandak is posing a threat to the embankment in Samastipur. Surging water of Bagmati is spreading in fresh areas of Darbhanga.

Rail traffic on Darbhanga-Samastipur section continues to be disrupted.

  1. बाढ़ से प्रभावित विद्युत् इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर की शीघ्र बहाली के लिए भी केन्द्र, राज्य सरकार की हर संभव मदद करेगा |

     

  2. बाढ़ से प्रभावित सड़कों की मरम्मत के लिए सड़क एवं परिवहन मंत्रालय को उपयुक्त कार्रवाई करने का भी निर्देश दिया गया है।

     

  3. प्रधानमंत्री ने नुकसान के आकलन के लिए तुरंत ही एक central team भेजने का भी आश्वासन दिया है।
