Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development works worth over 4,570 crore rupees in Kokrajhar, Assam, via Video Conferencing. Virtually addressing from Guwahati, the Prime Minister said the Government has been working for all-around development of the Bodo Territorial Council area, and 1,500 crore rupees have been sanctioned for its fast development. The Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to Kokrajhar has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Bodo region, which experienced violence and bloodshed for decades, has entered a new era of growth and stability, noting that thousands of youths surrendered their arms to join the mainstream. Mr Modi said his government has ensured that the faith and traditions of the Bodo community receive recognition at the national level.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress party for its long-standing neglect of the Bodoland area and said that the BJP-led NDA government is working for all-around development of this area. The PM accused the Congress of fostering divisive politics and neglecting this area and highlighted the BJP’s efforts to correct the mistakes of Congress by strengthening peace in the region.

On the occasion, the PM virtually laid the foundation stone of a road infrastructure project, Assam Mala 3.0, four flyovers and two bridges in the BTC area. On the same occasion, the PM laid the foundation stone of a railway Periodic Overhauling Workshop at Basbari in Kokrajhar district and also flagged off three new trains: the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Express and the Narangi-Agartala Express. The PM also laid the foundation for 36 new bridges for 34 districts of the State.

At Guwahati, the PM will perform Bhoomi Poojan and inaugurate and dedicate to the nation several development projects worth around 19,680 crore rupees. The PM will also symbolically hand over land pattas to eligible tea garden workers of the State and dedicate the 150 MW Kopili Hydropower Project.

The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the Capacity Enhancement Project of the Numaligarh-Siliguri Product Pipeline of Oil India Limited. The project will facilitate the expansion of the Numaligarh Refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate Phase 1 of the North East Gas Grid, a major pipeline project that connects Guwahati with Numaligarh, Gohpur, and Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, with a branch line extending to Dimapur, Nagaland. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s Rail-Fed POL Terminal at Panchgram, Hailakandi District. These projects will significantly strengthen energy infrastructure in the North-East and enhance national energy security.

Major railway electrification projects will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister, including the Rangiya-Murkongselek, Chaparmukh-Dibrugarh, Badarpur-Silchar and Badarpur-Churaibari rail lines. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Furkating-Tinsukia rail line doubling project.

In the waterways sector, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for cruise terminals at Bishwanath Ghat in the Biswanath district and Neamati in the Jorhat district. The Prime Minister will also perform Bhoomi Poojan for the Regional Centre of Excellence at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh, which will serve as a premier maritime training and research hub for the Northeast region. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the approach road connecting Pandu Jetty to NH-27 at Guwahati.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the PM Ekta Mall in Guwahati.

The Prime Minister will also release the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme to over 9.3 crore farmers across the country, under which eligible farmers receive Rs. 2,000 directly into their bank accounts from Guwahati.

Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones and dedicate to the nation various projects worth Rs. 23,550 crore at Silchar.
