Uttar Pradesh govt to plant 22 crore trees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dismissed skeptics and said the target of India becoming a 5 trillion dollar economy is achievable.
Addressing BJP workers in Varanasi, he said it is important to know about the 5 trillion dollar economy because some people were casting doubts over the competency of Indians, saying that achieving the target is very difficult.
The Prime Minister said these people are professional pessimists. Referring to the provisions in the Union budget, Mr Modi said a “new India” was on the threshold of racing ahead.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a tree plantation drive in Varanasi. Under the drive, Uttar Pradesh government will plant 22 crore trees in the state.
Mr Modi also launched Bharatiya Janata Party’s nationwide membership drive in Varanasi coinciding with the birth anniversary of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP Working President JP Nadda and UP BJP President Mahendra Nath Pandey also spoke on the occasion. Mr Modi also unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Babatpur airport in Varanasi this morning.
