Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing today held bilateral discussions in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening the historical and civilisational ties between the two nations. The talks covered the full spectrum of relations, including security cooperation and connectivity initiatives.
Later in the day, President U Min Aung Hlaing will meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is also scheduled to visit the Light and the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One exhibition at the Rai Pithora Cultural Complex in the capital.
The Myanmar President arrived in Gaya, Bihar, on Saturday for a five day official visit to India, accompanied by a high level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and business leaders. This marks his first visit to India in his current capacity. Tomorrow, he will travel to Mumbai for business and industry interactions as well as site visits.
Myanmar’s strategic position at the intersection of India’s Neighborhood First, Act East, and MAHASAGAR policies underscores the importance of this visit, which is expected to further deepen and expand the multi faceted partnership between the two countries.
