INDIAN Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned Russian President Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on his victory in the Presidential elections held in Russia on Sunday.

Conveying his compliments to Putin on Monday, the PM expressed the hope that under his leadership, the ‘special and privileged strategic partnership’ between India and Russia would continue to grow from strength to strength.

PM Modi also stated that he looked forward to welcoming President Putin in India for the annual India-Russia summit later this year.

President Putin thanked the Indian leader for the phone call and conveyed his commitment to further strengthen India-Russia relations in all spheres, and also his good wishes for the continued progress of India and its people, a press statement here said.
