Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday, found an “uncanny similarity” between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi after a British newspaper shared a video of the latter walking down the streets of London.
“The video of fugitive #NiravModi in London shows an uncanny similarity between him & his bhai, PM Modi. Both have looted India and are called Modi. Both refuse to answer any questions. Both believe they are above the law. Both will face justice,” Rahul said in a sarcastic tweet, quoting The Telegraph report.

The Telegraph today shared the video of Nirav, an accused in over Rs.13000 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, walking down the streets of London, saying “no comments” on being asked about his extradiation status. The newspaper also reported that the PNB scam accused was living in an 8-million pound (Rs. 75 crore) luxurious apartment in London’s West End.
Soon after the report, the opposition that has been cornering the Narendra Modi government for allegedly making delay in the case took a swipe at the Centre over the video.
“Impossible is possible under Modi. It seems that Modi ji is running bank fraudster settlement company. In five years, Rs. 1 lakh crore has been robbed by the fugitives and you were unable to catch them,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters.
