PM in Varanasi: Focus should be on poorPrime Minister Narendra Modi who is on visit to Varanasi today said that the main focus should be on making the poor of India self-reliant. At a programme Prime Minister distributed cycle rickshaws and solar lanterns to the beneficiaries.

Strongly advocating NDA Government’s recently launched schemes Prime Minister Narendra Modi said these schemes would bring a sea change in the life of poors.

PM said Skill India and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana have the potential to fight against poverty.

Taking a jibe at previous Congress governments PM said he will fulfil the task of bringing the banks to the doors of poors within a period of 50 months, which Congress governments could not do in 50 years.

Addressing rickshaw pullers after distributing e-rickshaws, PM appealed them to educate their children at all cost. PM said education is the most powerful weapon to fight against poverty and bring a qualitative change in life.

He was accorded a warm welcome at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Varanasi Mayor Ram Gopal Mohale.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said educating children is the only option to end poverty in the country.The Prime Minister said, if we bring about even a little change, use technology in our lives then even the poorest of the poor will earn more.

He said, a touch of technology can greatly help the poor and it would be our effort to make the poor of India self-reliant. Mr. Modi added that the skill development mission launched by the Centre would certainly improve the condition of living of the poor.

Mr Modi was addressing a function after distributing package to 602 families in his parliamentary constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Besides, he also distributed 501 pedal rickshaws, 101 e-rickshaws and 1000 solar lanterns for rickshaw, pushcart and street vendors.

Mr Modi, while addressing people at the Multi-purpose ground in the Cantonment area, said providing e-rickshaw to the poor would certainly change the image of the temple city of Varanasi where tourists first meet with them after reaching.

This was the first visit of Mr Modi to his parliamentary constituency this year though his two-schedule visit in June and July was postponed due to weather related problems.

Mr Modi has a busy schedule during his day-long visit during which he will meet the delegation of the Shiksha Mitras and others besides launching developmental programmes and addressing a public meeting.

Later, Mr Modi will meet several delegations and chair a meeting of the BJP leaders.
