ambit of the Lokpal would “not be advisable.” Talking to media at parliament house here, Dr. Singh said, Parliament was a sovereign body and it should be allowed to function and discharge its duty. He said, the decision not to bring the Prime Minister’s office under the Lokpal has been taken after taking all factors into account.
On the 2G, Dr. Singh said, that we should not pre-judge the issue as the matter is before the court.
On Telengana MPs and MLAs resigning over the statehood demand, the Prime Minister hoped that the government would overcome the issue. He said, government is fully prepared to discuss all issues on the floor of the Parliament in the monsoon session beginning Monday.
Leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj told media after all party meeting convened by the Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar that the party will take up the issues of internal security, Lok Pal and corruption during the session.
The monsoon session is likely to continue for about six weeks. The Opposition has planned to raise issues like inflation, Telangana, rail accidents and Maoist violence in the session. The Government has decided to introduce 32 new bills including the Lokpal Bill. Other important bills to be introduced include Land Acquisition Bill, Food Security Bill, the Benami Transactions Bill and the Mines and Minerals Bill.
