Pakistan Army today violated ceasefire in Shahpur Qasba and Kirni sector of Poonch District, Jammu and Kashmir in which one civilian lost life while other three civilians were injured.
Indian Army said Pakistan violated ceasefire by resorting to heavy mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control on civilian areas and Indian forward posts at around 12.30 P.M. Indian Army retaliated befittingly. The exchange of fire was on till the reports last came in.
Local residents said, Pakistani Army resorted to small arms firing and heavy mortar shelling targeting forward posts and villages along the LoC which created a sense of insecurity among the villagers.
He added many houses of the village were damaged due to shelling by Pakistani army in the area. Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch Ramesh Kumar Angral said that the civilian lost his life while three others injured were shifted to District Hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Bader Din, a resident of Shahpur. District Development Commissioner, Poonch Rahul Yadav said the Administration is monitoring the situation closely and instructed people residing along LoC in the sector to move towards safer places.
