azizPakistan has considerable influence over the Taliban because its leaders live in the country, Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, has said. For years, Pakistan has denied that the Afghan Taliban enjoys a safe haven on its soil or Islamabad could do anything to end their violent campaign in Afghanistan.

Sartaj Aziz has revealed at Washington’s Council on Foreign Relations think tank Tuesday that Islamabad has some influence over the Taliban because their leadership is in Pakistan and they get medical facilities and also their families are in the country. He said Pakistan has hosted them for 35 years.
