DEATH TOLL IN in the suicide bomb explosion at Civil Hospital in Quetta on Monday has gone up to 93. however official maintained that 71 people have died and 108 are still critically injured.
The explosion took place when lawyers gathered outside Emergency Ward of the hospital where the dead body of President Balochistan Bar Association, Bilal Anwar Kasi, was brought for autopsy.
Bilal Kasi was earlier shot dead by unknown gunmen on Mannu Jan Road in Quetta when he was on his way to Balochistan High Court from his home.
The killed and the injured persons included lawyers, police officials and journalists. Balochistan Home Minister said the incidents appears to be suicide attack.
The suicide bomber blew himself up outside the gate of emergency ward of the hospital. Senior leader Baz Muhammad Kakar was among the 25 lawyers killed while two journalists also became victims.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri and Inspector General of Police Ahsan Mehboob confirmed that it was a suicide bomb explosion.
Former Supreme Court Bar Association president Kamran Murtaza said senior lawyer leader and ex-president of Balochistan
High Court Bar Association Baz Muhammad Kakar and other senior lawyer leaders were killed in the blast. “Twenty-five lawyers were killed while most of the injured were also lawyers,” he added.
Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here and inquired after the victims of the terror attack that took place in Quetta.
The prime minister was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri, Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid and National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua.
