At least 17 people were killed and 12 others injured when a small military plane crashed into a residential area near the garrison city of Rawalpindi in the wee hours today.
17 people, including five crew members and 12 civilians, lost their lives after a Pakistan Army aviation aircraft on a routine training flight crashed near Mora Kalu Rawalpindi, reports Pak media.
A rescue spokesman Farooq Butt said, so far 15 bodies including 10 civilians and 5 crew members have been retrieved and 12 people injured in the crash.
The military gave no details about the cause of the crash and only said an army aviation aircraft was on a routine training flight before going down in the village of Mora Kalu on outskirts of Rawalpindi.
Rescue officials say, the plane suddenly lost contact with the tower and reason for the incident was not known.
