Once agian both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today without transacting any legislative business for the sixth day as Congress-led Opposition continued to stall proceedings in support of their demands.

The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha faced repeated adjournments before adjourning for the day.

Members from Telugu Desam Party, an ally of NDA, also trooped into the well demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh. This is for the second week in a row that both the Houses have been witnessing repeated protests by the opposition.

In the Lok Sabha, members belonging to Congress, Trinamool Congress and others trooped into the well raising slogans. TRS members raised the issue of increasing job reservation quota in Telangana while AIADMK pressed the demand for setting up of Cauvery Management Board.

In between, Congress, TMC, Left and others started shouting slogans on Bank Fraud cases.

Amidst noisy scenes, Minister of State for Finance, Shiv Pratap Shukla introduced the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018 when the House re-assembled at Noon after its first adjournment. The bill aims at laying down measures to deter economic offenders from evading the process of law by remaining outside the jurisdiction of Indian courts.

He also introduced the Chit Funds (Amendment) Bill, 2018. The amendment facilitates the orderly growth of the chit funds sector. Amid noisy scene, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.

A similar situation prevailed in the Rajya Sabha which was adjourned within minutes after it met for the day.

TDP and YSR Congress members were seen in the well of the House on their demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh while AIADMK and DMK wanted Cauvery Management Board. Aam Aadmi Party members raised the issue of sealing of properties in Delhi.

Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House till 2 PM amidst noisy scenes.

There was no change in the situation when the House re-assembled at 2 PM as opposition members continued with their protests. Following this, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the House till tomorrow.
