Union Health Minister, J P Nadda along with Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today visited four hospitals including AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar to meet patients shifted from SUM Hospital after the fire mishap which occurred on Monday evening.
Speaking to media after visiting SUM hospital, the Health Minister said, prima facie evidence shows that there are certain safety issues involved in the incident and the State government is holding inquiries. He said, the State government should take action against the guilty.
Mr. Nadda said, Centre is ready to extend all possible help to Odisha government and if there is any situation where the patients need our help we are ready for that too. He also directed the doctors and staff to help the patients in the best way possible.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, there is certainly a security breach in the incident and the specific responsibilities should be fixed to the culprit to the person concerned.
The Union Health Minister will hold a meeting with State Health Minister and other top officials later today.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced 5 lakh rupees compensation each to family of deceased.
Similarly, in a damage control exercise, the authorities of the SUM Hospital yesterday announced the same amount of compensation each to family of deceased and free medical treatment to the severely injured patients in fire incident.
