One Border Security Force Jawan was killed and two others were seriously injured in a landmine explosion by Maoists in Kaliajhula forests in Koraput district today. The incident occurred while the Jawans were carrying out a combing operation.
BSF personnel have cordoned off the area after the incident and have intensified the combing operation. Notably, just a few kilometres from the spot of today’s incident, Maoists killed a businessman last night accusing him a police informer.
Meanwhile, the normal life was disrupted in some places of Nuapada, Malkangiri and Kalahandi districts due to a two-day bandh from today called by Maoists opposing ‘Operation Green Hunt’ launched by security forces against the ultras in the south-western part of the State.
