The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) today made it clear that there would be no more talks to settle the Babri Masjid–Ramjanbhoomi dispute. The clarification has come amid media reports that Salman Nadvi, a member of Board is engaged in an out of court settlement with Hindu Guru Ravishankar. Nadvi reportedly said that Masjid could be shifted to other place to please Hindus.
On first day of three-day plenary, the Board issued a statement clarifying that there was no change in stand of the Board vis a vis Babri Masjid . Interestingly Salaman Nadvi was also present in the meet.
“There is no change in the stand of All India Muslim Personal Board regarding Babri Masjid. It is a mosque and wherever a mosque is built will remains a mosque till Qayamt” AIMPLB said in a strongly worded statement.
Statement said that in past whenever Hindu religious leaders offered for talks Board never opposed it and talked about just and honorable solution to the vexed issue. But Hindu groups always asked Muslims to relinquish its claim from Babri Masjid. ” Muslim can not do that because giving mosque for prayer of other than Allah is not permissible in Islam”. It said that matter is now in country supreme court and all parties should respect the judgment whenever it comes. AIMPLB is happy that apex court is treating the matter as case of land deal and not Astha.
“We strongly believe that the land belonging to a Masjid cannot be sold, gifted or donated. The Babri case is not about Aastha. It’s about land ownership. We believe in our judiciary system” , said a member of Board executive.
