Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday got emotional while addressing an election rally in Kerala saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘cannot take away her love for India’ .
“India is my home. It is here that I’ll breathe my last and here that my ashes will mingle with my loved ones. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot take away my commitment to and love for India, my country,” Sonia said while addressing a rally in Thiruvananthapuram.
“Yes, I was born in Italy. I came to India in 1968 as the daughter in law of Indira Gandhi. I spent 48 years of my life in India, this is my home and this is my country. I was born to proud and honest parents, I will never be ashamed of them,” said Mrs. Gandhi.
She also said that none of the BJP ruled states are at par with Kerala in terms of development. “I challenge him (PM Modi) to show at least one BJP ruled state that has a better health & educational achievement than Kerala,” said Gandhi.
Earlier addressing a rally in Thrissur Mrs Gandhi said the UDF Government in Kerala introduced the liquor policy considering the future of the mothers and children in the State. At the same time, the LDF has no firm liquor policy, she said. Mrs. Gandhi also alleged that the LDF pursued anti-development policies in the State.
