At least 30 soldiers were killed in combat with Boko Haram militants who overran a military base in the northeast near the border with Niger.
Military sources said scores of Boko Haram militants stormed the base at Zari village in northern Borno State late on Thursday.
The sources said the militants seized the base after a fierce battle in which 30 soldiers were killed.
