West African Country Niger today recalled its ambassador to Qatar in solidarity with Arab countries that have cut ties with Doha over allegations on its support to terror related groups and its relations with Iran. Some African countries have also come out in support of attempts to isolate Qatar.
Mauritania, an Arab League member, cut ties on Tuesday and central African oil producer Gabon condemned Qatar for failing “on counter-terrorism”. Senegal has said it would recall its ambassador in Qatar and expressed its “active solidarity”.
Led By Saudi Arabia , UAE, Egypt and Bahrain many countries in the Gulf and Africa have snapped their ties since Monday with Qatar in one of the worst diplomatic crisis in the Middle East region. These countries have accused Qatar of supporting terrorism and destabilizing the region and have stopped all land , air and sea links with Doha. Major Arab nations want Qatar to change their policies which includes stop terror funding , expelling the members of Hamas and rein in the state funded media outlets. Qatar has rejected these claims as unjustified and baseless .
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Qatar in an advisory to the Indian nationals have said that there is nothing happening in the region to suggest any threat to physical safety and security. It has also said that the Qatari authorities have conveyed that they will take all necessary steps to ensure that normal life including food supplies is not affected.
