The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has, today, attached 17 Properties of the financier of terrorism in J&K, Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, in the Hurriyat terror funding case. The attached properties belonging to Watali are located in the Handwara area of Kupwara in Kashmir.
NIA said, the accused Watali supports terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and provides financial assistance to terror groups. The agency further said that Watali was a Hawala conduit, who was receiving money from Hafiz Saeed, a ‘Specially Designated Global terrorist’ and also a ‘listed global terrorist’ by the United Nations. NIA said that the banned terrorist groups were using the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC), as a front for carrying out and supporting secessionist activities in Kashmir. The agency said that these outfits were spreading terror and perpetrating violence in the valley by promoting and conducting attacks on civilians and security forces. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) commander Yasin Malik is already undergoing life imprisonment in the Hurriyat terror funding case.
