National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh on a gang rape of a minor girl in District Hospital of Mathura and called for a report within four weeks. NHRC took suo motu cognizance of a media report that a mentally ill and disable minor girl was gang raped in the intervening night of 15 and 16 of this month. Issuing the notice, NHRC observed that the Government run hospitals are duty bound to exercise due care and heightened vigil and not to leave the helpless patients at any body’s mercy.
