NHRC Chairperson Justice H L Dattu today said the Commission have disposed over one lakh eleven thousand cases in the past one year.
Briefing media in New Delhi on the Foundation Day of the NHRC, Justice Dattu said, the number of cases being registered indicates faith of the people in function of the Commission. He said, the onus is on state governments and centre to ensure that this faith is not shaken.
Listing the important cases during the last one year, Justice Dattu mentioned the Rohtak rape case and fire incident in a Kerala temple. He said, NHRC has always considered media as an equal partner in promotion and protection of human rights. He expressed gratitude towards media for reporting stories of human rights violations from far flung places.
