The National Green Tribunal has imposed a fine of Rs 1.41 crore upon three builders for directly discharging sewage into river Yamuna in Taj city Agra. Hearing a petition filed by environment activist DK Joshi, NGT Chairman, retired Justice Swatantar Kumar, imposed the fine on Manglam Estates, Rajshree estate and Pushpanjali estates.
NGT also directed the Agra Development Authority to demolish the sewage lines built by these builders at once. Justice Kumar also issued notices to nine colonies and one Inter College of Dayalbagh area of Agra for flouting norms. Next hearing will be on October 12.
