india-pakIndia’s Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today said New Delhi is in touch with Islamabad on the Pathankot terror attack probe. The attack took place on an IAF base in Pathankot last month.

Speaking at the Counter-Terrorism Conference 2016 in Jaipur, Mr Jaishankar said India has provided actionable evidence to Pakistan related to the attack. He said Pakistan should now progress on the basis of evidence provided by India.

Asserting that tolerance on the issue of terrorism must be frankly exposed, Mr Jaishankar said, naming and shaming must be carried out relentlessly in the case of perpetrators, supporters and connivers of terrorism. The Foreign Secretary said, the broad sense of responsibility is still not there fully in International communities, even amongst nations who are themselves victim of terrorism. Mr Jaishankar said there is a need for united efforts to combat terror.

Saying that countering terrorism is a priority imperative for Indian diplomacy, Mr Jaishankar said, the role of diplomacy in facilitating intelligence cooperation and building national capabilities cannot be overstated. He said India has made major strides in putting in place practical cooperation with a number of countries. He added New Delhi’s strategy on counter-terrorism and security dialogues which bring together experts from all the relevant fields in regular bilateral and multilateral interactions, are an important diplomatic tool.
