Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal held meeting with leaders of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at Kathmandu today to resolve ongoing deadlock. Prime Minister appealed Front leaders to accept constitution amendment bill and participate in May 14 local elections.
Leader of newly formed Rashtriya Janta Party Shri Rajender Mahto told our Kathmandu correspondent that Madhesi parties concerns about constitution amendment bill, how the bill to be passed in parliament and issue of local elections were discussed in the meeting. The Front leaders requested Government to reconsider constitution amendment bill to accommodate their demands.
Prime Minister Dahal has convened a meeting of ruling parties at 3 PM today to discuss the UDMFs proposal. Later at 5 PM government will again meet UDMF leaders.
Madhesi parties are demanding constitution amendment on various issues including re-demarcation of provincial boundaries, more representation, citizenship and language before local polls.
