Security forces have achieved a major success in counter-insurgency operation today by arresting self styled Commander-in-Chief of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) Songbijit faction,NDFB(S) Rabi Basumatary.
IGP, L R Bishnoi who led the operation said that a joint team of the Army, Police and SSB arrested the top militant along with his bodyguard at Morabari jungle in Chirang district.
This outfit was involved in the gruesome killing of nearly 80 civilians last year apart from numerous crimes. Security forces also recovered arms and ammunitions from them. He became Commander -in -Chief of the outfit in April this year.
In another development, police and CRPF arrested 6 fundamentalist in Chirang district. Assam Police PRO said that all of them have been arrested under Amguri police station. 4 handmade weapons have been recovered from them.
