National Commission for Minorities, NCM has asked Centre to take strong action against unlawful cow vigilantes who are flourishing in different part of the country. It said that action against them is must for maintaining the secular credentials of India.
In a letter to union home minister Rajnath Singh, the National Commission for Minorities Chairman Naseem Ahmad said : “It is true that law and order is a state subject but certainly Central Government would be well within its power to ask states to handle such situations with heavy hand and to enforce sense of security among the minorities in all seriousness”
He said that that Commission has been receiving petitions and have prepared reports on some of these incidents. “Victims in some cases have also cited police apathy”, he noted.
