Senior Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party leader and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reiterated that the state is having an opposition-less government and setting People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) is to bring about peace in the state and resolve the Naga Political Issue in order to let people thrive while also enabling investors to come forward and create opportunities and avenues.
Addressing the Kohima PDA coordination meeting for the General Election to the Lok Sabha 2024 at NDPP Central Office Conference Hall Kohima on April 8, Rio exuded hope that the forthcoming election would be peaceful and the people also would support the PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry.
He also reiterated the unwavering commitment of his government for the unresolved Naga issue and added that his party would not compromise the Christian principles. Rio also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s association with the Christian during the Easter and Christmas and also the visit to the Vatican to meet the Pope.
Rio said, the BJP having an alliance with about 57 political parties in the country, is projecting itself as the single largest party and with alliance will form the government. He also made a mention of the strides that the country has achieved and progressed globally under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked the people not to be misled by the rumours that evolve during the time of elections.
The Chief Minister further reiterated the PDA’s commitment as a party to the NDA at centre and also informed that he also would be going to Manipur on April 20 to campaign for the NPF Candidate for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Meanwhile, PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry in speech opined that the 18th house of the parliament will be crucial for the Naga Political Issue . He said politicians cannot be a party to the talks but can project the views and aspirations of the people and this can be done by raising the issue at the Parliament.
He highlighted how Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is bringing peace, development and empowering the people and various other initiatives that the government is undertaking. Dr Murry also reiterated his commitment to be the voice of the people in the parliament if given the chance.
Speeches were also delivered by NPF MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu, BJP Legislator Kropol Vitsu, NPP MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso and Independent MLA Kevipodi Sophie.
Nagaland is going to polls in the first phase on April 19. Three candidates namely PDA consensus candidate Dr Chumben Murry, INC Candidate S Supongmeren Jamir and Independent Candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha are in fray for the state lone Lok Sabha seat.
