Renowned Islamic scholar and the general secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board AIMPLB, and Amir e Shariyat Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, Hazrat Moulana Syed Nezamuddin passed away here today after prolonged illness. He was 89.

Maulana had made an outstanding contribution in Islamic jurisprudence and had done yeomen service through his Imarat Shariah Bihar, Jharkhand & Orissa which  is a unique socio religious organization of Muslim from Bihar, Jharkhand & Orissa in particular and other parts of the Indian sub continent in general.

He was born on 31 March 1927 at Gaya. He received his primary education at the hands of his father Syed Hussain at home. Afterwards he was admitted at Madarsa Imdadia, Darbhanga for one year in 1941. In 1942 he was sent to Darul Uloom, Deoband for higher education. He studied Hadith there up to 1947. After completion of education, he adopted teaching and joined Madarasa Riyazul Uloom, Sathi District Champaran as its Principal and remained there for 12 years from 1949 to 1962. He joined Madarsa Rasheedul Uloom at Chatra as its Principal and remained there for two years from 1963-1964.

He was identified and chosen by Hazrat Ameer Shariat Maulana Syed Shah Minnatullah Rahmani (Rahamatullah Aley) for the work at Imarat-e-Shariah. Therefore, he joined the Imarat-e-Shariah in 1965 as its Nazim (Administrator).

In 1991 he was unanimously elected as the General Secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board after death of Maulana Syed Shah Minnatullah Rahmani (Rahamatullah Aley). He was ably performing these duties till death.

He was elected as Ameer Shariat, Imarat-e-Shariah, Bihar-Orissa and Jharkhand in the year 1998 after death of Hazrat Maulana Abdul Rahman. Hazrat Maulana Syed Nizamuddin took oath of allegiance to Shaikhul Hind Hazrat Maulana Hussain Ahmad Madani (Rahamatullah Aley).  He was Shaikhul Hind’s disciple as well. He was member of the Majlis-e-Shoora of Darul Uloom, Deoband, and Majlis-e-Muntzama, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow.

His namaze janaza will be offered on Sunday after Zohar namaaz in Phulwarisharif.

Several political and religious leaders have condoled the death of Maulana Nezamudding.
