The Rajya Sabha poday witnessed noisy scenes over an Ayurvedic product that is believed to be helpful in the sex determination amidst members’ demand for its ban. Raising the issue, K C Tyagi of the JD(U) said the government should take action against the pharmaceutical company as it goes against Prime Minister’s call for Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao.
Mr Tyagi displayed the packet to draw the attention of the members. It was later handed over to Health Minister J P Nadda, who was also present in the House. Responding to members’ concern, Mr Nadda said it is a various serious issue and assured members that the matter will thoroughly be enquired into and action will be taken. The Health Minister said Prime Minister himself is monitoring the Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao programme.
