Administration imposed curfew after incidents of arson and stone-pelting by rioting mobs. Nearly 15 people, including two policemen have been injured in the clashes.
According to police officials Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed in and around trouble-torn areas.

Curfew was imposed in Katghar, Manjhola, Galshaeed and some other areas where several people were also injured in the violence.

Special DG Brijlal told media in Lucknow that members of the two communities who are observing Roza and taking part in Shravan mela clashed with each other leading to tension. Adding that the situation was tense but under control.

Local people said that on Saturday Kanwariyas wanted to take out their procession from an undeclared route in the Muslim area. Muslims were against the opening of this new route for Kanwariyas.  Despite police presence the Kanwariyas had passed through this route and resorted to arson and loot.

On Tuesday rioters attacked Muslims Namazis during evening prayer at mosque in Karola under Sarai Chowki police station.

Local people said that rioters entered the mosque and attacked the Namazis. Police tried to prevent rioters but thing went out of their control. Rioters attacked people on Sambhal Chowk. They also set on fire a police motor cycle and some kiosks.

Aggressiveness of kawanriyas are seen as softness of local police. Had police take stern action against Kawariayas in the beginning for violation of route things would not have gone to such an extent.
