BSP Supremo Mayawati has accused the Narendra Modi government of being “insensitive” towards people suffering due to the note ban.
She lamented that the government and the BJP are making fun of people who are dieing in the queue of banks. She said that they have not learnet the lesson from ‘ Shining India’ and projecting the demonitastion in the same way.
“More than 100 people have died due to demonetisation so far” said Mayawati.
She claimed that the problems arising out of the note ban have not lessened even as the 50-day period was nearing an end.
The Prime Minister, while announcing the decision to scrap high-value notes on November 8, had said there would be some inconvenience to people for the intial 50 days.
The BSP chief said that BJP was not even bothered about the negative feedback it got from its MPs in UP about the note ban exercise. “People are not able to get their own money,” she said.
The BSP chief said that BJP was more concerned about hitting out at the opposition parties even as people faced a host of problems because of the currency ban. She said that BJP’s belief that only corrupt were hit by demonetisation was completely misplaced as it were the common people who largely got affected. `”In a way the BJP has tried to paint all the honest people as corrupt,” the former UP chief minister said.
