Moderate to heavy rain lashes several northern states, including, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and National Capital Region today.
Delhi has so far received 17 millimeter rainfall, bringing respite to people from sweltering weather.
India Meteorological Department has attributed the current rainfall to the interaction between low pressure area and western disturbance.
Senior official of IMD, Dr Charan Singh said, the situation will continue for two days and due to its impact, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Dr Singh said, it is not the withdrawal of the South-West Monsoon and this type of rainfall during this period is rare.
