The Border Security Forces (BSF) personnel in Meghalaya who have recovered from COVID-19 are all set to donate their plasma to combat the ongoing pandemic.
The worst hit by the pandemic and once an epicentre of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, the BSF now stands with 90-95 percent personnel recovered. Over 450 BSF personnel have voluntarily come forward to donate their plasma.
In line with this, a plasma donation camp was held at the BSF Camp, Shillong where the samples from over 60 BSF personnel were collected by medical technicians from North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
Director of NEIGRIHMS, Dr P Bhattacharya informed that they are collecting the samples to check the antibody levels and depending on that they will be selected for plasma donation when the plasma bank starts functioning.
