Maharashtra Bandh called by Dalit organisations today evoke mixed response in many cities including Mumbai, Pune and Thane. Security has been deployed across the state and protests are going on peacefully.

Statewide bandh called was against the state government’s alleged failure to stop violence at Bhima- Koregaon incident.

No untoward incidents of violence are reported from across the state except some minor protests and damages. Protesters tried to block tracks at the Thane railway station this morning, but they were chased away soon and the traffic on the Central Railway line remained uninterrupted.

Railway police informed that protesters also tried to block rail traffic on the Western line in suburban Goregaon and Virar stations. But tracks were evacuated soon and train operations have resumed.

Offices, schools and colleges remained open, BEST services are running smoothly. Private taxi services were partially affected. APMC and other markets are not affected due to Bandh. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other leaders have appealed people to maintain peace and harmony.
