Officials have revealed that Sridevi’s autopsy has been completed and the family is now awaiting laboratory reports conducted by the General Department of Forensic Evidence, Dubai.

Body of Bollywood actress Sridevi who passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai, at 11pm on Saturday, would not be released tonight reports Khaleej Times quoting a source in the Indian Consulate in Dubai revealed.
She reportedly had a fainting spell in her bathroom and was immediately rushed to Rashid Hospital in Dubai. The hotel, however, refused to comment on the matter and an employee stated that it is under police investigation.
Sources in the Indian Consulate said that she was brought dead to the hospital.

Officials informed Khaleej Times that as per usual protocols, these tests take up to 24 hours in the case a person has died outside a hospital in Dubai. The same safety and administrative protocols are being followed by the police in this case as well.

About 19 hours after her death, Sridevi’s body is yet to be handed over to her relatives as the autopsy is yet to be completed. The chief doctor conducting the autopsy has now left the laboratory even as some lab tests remain to be done. A team of doctors continues to conduct the autopsy, and only once the autopsy is complete will the body be shifted to the Muhaisna embalming centre before it can be flown out on a private jet to India.
Earlier Sridevi’s brother-in-law and actor Sanjay Kapoor had said the whole family was in shock with the sudden demise of the veteran actress. He also said that she had no history of heart ailment.
Sridevi was in UAE to attend a wedding. The actress had reportedly fainted in the bathroom of a Dubai hotel, following a heart attack. Later she was rushed to a local hospital in Dubai. Sources said, the actress was brought dead to the hospital. Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi were with her when she died.
Indian Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri along with his wife visited Boney Kapoor and assured of all help and support at this hour of grief. Speaking to media Mr Suri said, they are in touch with the local authorities and the family to provide all possible assistance.
As the news regarding the sudden death of Sridevi spread, several Indian fans and social workers living in Dubai gathered in the vicinity of Dubai Forensic Centre to pay their respects to the late actress.
Sridevi was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box office success without the support of a male hero. She starred in more than 150 films, including such Bollywood classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Sadma,Lamhe and more recently, the much acclaimed English Vinglish and MOM. In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour.
