Speaking to mediapersons at Madurai airport on Sunday, he said that clearance of Atomic energy regulatory board expert committee is expected in a day or two to start loading of enriched uranium in Koodankulam Nuclear plant’s nuclear reactor. Meanwhile Tirunelveli Superintendent of Police Vijayendra Bidari told AIR that the situation is now calm and peaceful in Idinthakarai.

The situation in Idinthakarai, near Koodankulam which witnessed days of protests including fasts, people standing in sea water, burying waist-high in beach sand is now calm and peaceful.

Now once the seven member Atomic Energy Regulatory Board expert team gives clearance to load 163 enriched uranium sub assemblies into the nuclear reactor the fuel loading work will be finished in eight days. After that a series of safety tests will be conducted and slowly the nuclear reactor will be brought to criticality. The power generation will start within a month bringing in much needed electricity to the power starved state.
