Kerala, educational institutions will function in full swing by this month-end as Covid transmission shows a decline. Till then, regular classes will continue with half-the-strength of students.
The Covid Review Meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also decided to continue district-level restrictions based on the scale of pandemic spread. The government will consider allowing more people in upcoming religious congregations and local festivals. The Chief Minister has asked the Health Department to take stringent action against private hospitals giving monoclonal antibody treatment unnecessarily. Health Department will consider setting up a Registry to record post-Covid health issues.
Meanwhile, Kerala today reported more Covid-19 recoveries and a slight hike in daily caseload. The State recorded 49 thousand 393 recoveries while fresh cases spiked to 29 thousand 471. Test Positivity Rate surged to 30.85 percent.
Besides 28 Covid related fatalities, 796 previously undocumented Covid deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative toll to 59 thousand 939.
Kerala’s active cases have dipped to two lakh 83 thousand 676.
