Karnataka is conducting Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) board exams for class 10 students across the state from today. The examinations were earlier scheduled in March but postponed due to the lockdown.
There are over 8 lakh 48 thousand students taking the exams in 2879 centres across the state. Over one lakh teachers and other staff from Health, police and Social welfare department are deputed for duty till the examinations are over on July 4th.
Students are asked to appear much before the exams commence at 10.30 am, to complete the protocol of undergoing thermal tests, wearing masks, washing the hands with sanitisers and ensuring social distancing while sitting in their designated seats.
Health minister B Sriramulu has said that students coming from containment zones will be carefully handled. Education minister Suresh Kumar has said that students tested positive can again take exams in August. The Government has provided free transport service to the students appearing for the SSLC exams.
