Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured impartial enquiry against Prashanth Madal in the Lokayuktha case.

Prashanth is the son of Channagiri BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, who was trapped by Lokayukta police yesterday while allegedly receiving a bribe of 40 lakh rupees from a contractor.

A search in the office by Lokayuktha sleuths had unearthed unaccounted cash of around two crore rupees. Prashanth works as Chief Accounts Officer at Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board. A case has been lodged under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Prashanth.

Addressing media persons in Bengaluru today, Basavaraj Bommai said that the Government will not spare the corrupt and added that it was his Government that had reconstituted Lokayukta which he alleged was made ineffective by the Congress Government earlier during the tenure of Siddaramaiah.

He pointed out that the Congress ministers and MLAs faced 59 cases but under the Anti-Corruption Bureau no action was initiated against them.
