Earlier the report was rejected by the majority members of PAC. April 30 was the last day of his term as head of the Committee.
Later Joshi said, the Speaker should accept report on 2G and table in Parliament. He said he has not given clean chit to anybody. He also claimed that the rejection of report by 11 PAC members is unconstitutional.
Lok Sabha sources said that Joshi sent the report with a covering letter through officials who submitted it to the Speaker’s office.
Joshi claimed that he had adjourned the meeting. But Congress members alleged that he had walked out and after that they elected Rajya Sabha member Saifuddin Soz to chair the meeting which rejected the report. 11 members belonging to Congress, DMK and one each from SP and BSP voted against adoption of the report.
They also said they will present to the Lok Sabha their version of the outcome of the meeting and evidence of rejection of the report. The report was reportedly critical of the PMO, Prime Minister and others in the 2 G scam issue.
The Congress says PAC Chairman Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi’s is distorting the facts of the report prepared on 2G scam. Refuting allegations of Congress’s intervention in working of PAC, Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said Dr. Joshi tried to thrust his report on the members of the parliamentary committee which was defeated subsequently through democratic procedures. He said that Speaker of Lok Sabha will take a final call on the proceedings now.
