Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organized a two-day International Conference on Power Electronics, Control and Automation (ICPECA-2019) on 16-17 Nov 2019 as part of the university’s centenary celebrations. Delegates from 09 countries participated in the conference.

The Conference received 342 technical papers out of which 157 were accepted after peer review. 128 papers were registered and presented during the conference in 21 parallel slots.

Three tutorials and four keynote addresses were delivered during the conference.

Prof. K. K. Agarwal , Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) was the Chief Guest and Dr. B K Bandhopadhyay – Senior Advisor in World Bank was the Guest of Honour at the Inaugural Session.

Head of the Department Prof. Z.A. Jaffery and Dean Faculty of Engg & Tech Prof. Ibraheem welcomed the Guests and Delegates.

Dr. Ahteshamul Haque – Convener and Organizing Chair of the conference informed the delegates about the history of Jamia Millia Islamia He is Principal Investigator(PI) of the  MHRD SPARC project.

Prof. Akhtar Kalam from Victoria University, Australia, Prof. Frede Blaabjerg – Aalborg University, Denmark, Prof. Huai Wang- Aalborg University, Denmark were the keynote speakers.

Prof. Zaheeruddin – Technical Chair of the Conference presented the conference report.

The Chief Guest Prof. Agarwala, encouraged the delegates and students to work with creativity to solve the issues of society. Prof. Agarwal congratulated the organizers for organizing such a prestigious international event.

Dr. B K Bandhopadhyay and Prof. Bhim Singh, former Dean Academics, IIT Delhi and General talked about the history of solar installations in India and the world. 

In the first key note address Prof. Frede Blaabjerg emphasized that the success of Solar Power plant would largely depends on reliability of power electronics converters and other components. 

Prof. Akhtar Kalam in his key note mentioned about the smart grid technology of 21st century and said that India has great potential to implement smart grid technology.

Dr. A K Tripathi- Director General- National Institute of Solar Energy, in his keynote address informed the delegates about research activities going on at NISE and highlighted issues where researchers can contribute.

Prof. Huai Wang in his key note informed about the upcoming technologies in power electronics applications.

Around 1000 delegates and guests participated in the conference.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar and Registrar Mr. A P Siddiqui(IPS), conveyed their best wishes for the conference.
