Three army men and two J&K police personnel were killed during ongoing gunfight between terrorists and security forces in Halmatpura area of Kupwara district in Jammu & Kashmir,.
Two other security personnel sustained injuries. Four terrorists were killed in the gunfight yesterday evening while another body of a terrorist was retrieved from the encounter site taking the death toll of terrorists to five.
Security sources told AIR that at least two more terrorists are present in the area involved in the gunfight. A police spokesman said, the slain terrorists are probably of foreign origin and may have been part of some freshly infiltrated group from across LoC.
The anti militancy operation resumed this morning after the same was halted late last evening due to darkness. Security sources said, the security forces have gone deep into the dense woods of the area in the frontier district.
A cordon and search operation was launched yesterday by the security forces after a group of terrorists fired upon Army Area Domination Patrol in the area. The area is about 100 Kms from Srinagar headquarters.
The spokesman said, arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists near encounter site.
