Security forces achieved a major success in the anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district today. More than 10 Maoists were killed in an encounter which broke out this morning in the Saranda forest between security forces and CPI (Maoist) insurgents. Among those killed was dreaded Maoist leader Patiram Manjhi alias Anal Da, who was carrying a bounty of 1 crore rupees and was a native of Giridih district. Anal Da had been active in the Maoist movement for over two decades with a network spread across Giridih, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Saraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum, and was wanted in several serious cases, including attacks on security forces, IED blasts and extortion.
