Janta Dal ( United ) has decided not to participate in the Monday’s opposition sponsored Bharat Bandh called to protest against the Modi government’s demonetization drive.
The party has also decided not to participate in any protest and dharna. This decision was taken in a high level party meeting which was chaired by party national president Nitish Kumar.
Party’s Principal General Secretary K. C. Tyagi and other general secretaries, Pawan Kumar Verma and Harivansh participated in the meeting. State JD( U) President Vasisth Narayan Singh said, the party is with centre to curb black money. Meanwhile Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to crackdown on benami property. This step will be helpful in curbing black money in the country.
Addressing a function in Patna, Mr Kumar gave his unequivocal backing to PM’s decision to de-monitise high value currency. He said, he always favours any step to fight corruption, and is not the kind who will talk of roll back, although most parties are for it.
The Chief Minister said, he feels that ultimately it will yield benefits. Mr Nitish Kumar said, there is no doubt that black money and fake currency were affecting our economy, but after demonetization a huge quantity of money has also flown into the Jan Dhan accounts. It indicates that lot of black money have been pumped into it, he added.
