AIDMK leader and Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa passed away of cardiac arrest today. The hospital has finally confirmed ending all uncertainties over her health. She was 68
The Hospital release said, “It’s with indescribable grief that we announce the demise of our esteemed honourable chief minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchi Thalaivi Amma at 11.30 PM today (05-12-2016)”
Earlier Apollo Hospital has rejected the reports of Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha’s death as ‘baseless and false ‘.
President, vice president, prime minister, ministers, Congress leaders and other parties’ leader condoled the death of popular Tamil leader.
Arrangements are being made at Apollo Hospitals to take her mortal remains to Poes Garden, Ms. Jayalalithaa’s official residence. The government has announced three days holiday in view of the mourning period.
Ms. Jayalalithaa’s health took a turn for the worse when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening at the Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, where she had been undergoing treatment since September 22 for dehydration and fever. She has been on extracorporeal life support since then.

THREE DAYS HOLIDAY FOR SCHOOLS, COLLEGES
The government has announced three days holiday in lieu of the three day mourning period. Seven-day State mourning announced from today. National flag on all government buildings will be flown at half mast.
Meanwhile hundreds of party supporters were seen thronging the hospital.
Earlier, AIADMK leaders, MLAs and key executives, including the Chief Secretary, were present on the hospital premises.
Senior AIADMK leaders, Ministers, party functionaries and workers are coming to party office at Avvai Shanmugam Salai in Chennai by 8 p.m. Ministers M.C. Sampath, Ma foi Pandiarajan, Ramachandran, Saroja, and Valarmathi are some of the early attendees.
The meeting is, probably for the first time, being held in the party headquarters in the absence of Ms. Jayalalithaa.
ALL OFFICIALS TO BE PRESENT: COMMISSIONER
The Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, has issued a memorandum, saying all police officials should be present on duty until further orders.
ALL ROADS LEAD TO APOLLO FOR AIADMK CADRES
Hundreds of cadres lined up the streets around Apollo Hospitals since early Monday morning. Some of the bylanes leading to the hospital were blocked, while others were choked with traffic. Outpatients in private vehicles and ambulances struggled to get through Greams Lane as cadres, heavy police presence and media personnel occupied most of the road space.
