In the Kashmir valley, untimely snowfall was reported from various parts of valley while higher reaches received fresh snowfall and plains were lashed with incessant rains forcing the residents of Kashmir to stay indoors and put-on warm clothes. One feet snow was recorded in upper reaches of Pahalgam, Chandanwadi while more than two feet snow was reported to have got accumulated at Mahagunus Top enroute to the holy cave of Amarnath in south Kashmir.

Snowfall was also reported from world famous tourist destinations of Gulmarg and Sonmarg of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Sonamarg-Zojila highway and the Mughal Road of Jammu and Kashmir which connects the Shopian district to the Rajouri and Poonch districts of the Union Territory were closed for vehicular traffic today due to fresh snowfall at various places.

The 270-kilometre long Jammu-Srinagar National highway was also closed for traffic due to heavy rain and landslides in Ramban Sector resulting into the stranding of more than five hundred trucks on the National Highway.
