Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, JIH has condemned the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Lok Sabha.
While condemning the passage of the Bill Jamaat chief Syed Sadatullah Hussaini said itis an outcome of a ‘communal mindset’ it is both ‘biased and discriminatory’.
As the bill envisages granting citizenship to all foreign immigrants coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan except Muslims, it is violative of the cherished “diversity” found in our country and the core values of our Constitution. Differentiating the persecuted aspirants of citizenship based on religion is not only against the basic structure of the constitution but also against humanity and fundamental human values.
“It is highly regrettable that many other political parties besides the BJP are supporting the legislation. We urge them to reconsider their opinion and oppose it in the Rajya Sabha. This bill is already causing international repercussions that are bound to increase over time. By ignoring the plight of Muslim minorities in countries like Sri Lanka and Burma, the CAB fails the test of its own logic and shows our country bowing before the forces of bigotry and Islamophobia. We appeal to all justice-loving citizens of our country to reject the CAB. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will continue to oppose the CAB using all legal and democratic means at its disposal. We hope the non-BJP political parties will understand the dangerous consequences of CAB and oppose it in the Upper House of Parliament. This is a fight for justice and preserving the soul of our country”, Syed Sadatullah said
